- The majority of the household work at home is done in the kitchen, where most energy is used.
- Most of the household waste is produced and sorted in the kitchen.
- 80% of the new kitchens are built in old houses.
- The concept of the present standard kitchen has many demands and doesn’t fit its purpose anymore.
- Many of its functions, transformability, and energy economy, require a completely new re-evaluation.
- Those standards have been created under completely different conditions and for secondary kinds of reasons, and they are not very relevant to our present requirements. The planning principles and kitchen standards need to be updated.
- The use of limited natural resources, diverse types of families, the changes in the way of life, food
- production, eating habits an endlessly growing amount of domestic appliances, and the need to sort and recycle the waste is changing the basic requirements of the kitchen design radically.
- Currently, the usual standard kitchen cupboard structure is made out of small module boxes with double sidewalls. This structure is inflexible, and hard to transform or adapt for different uses and spaces.
- The assembling of built-in kitchen appliances in a modular cupboard is complicated. And finally, the double-layered cupboard walls and multiple cell structures are expensive and unnecessary.
