Reform of all the existing restooms into fun and colorful mixed spaces of interrelation that aim to educate in the values of respect for diversity and inclusion.
Life is that wonderful changing way. A place without any tags in which millions of empowering colors exist and give way to each personal universe

Key objectives for sustainability

The project has updated the small existing spaces. Thus taking advantage of existing resources, in this case in the form of space containers.
One of our values is involvement in sustainability, thus, we believe in redesigning and renewing, rather than rebuilding, educational facilities

Key objectives for aesthetics and quality

The reform has filled with color, order and has generated new illuminated spaces central.
Common space has been designed to allow face-to-face interaction, dividing sinks in a winding shape and marking the way in black.
That space through safety mirrors turns into an infinite universe, where reality is transformed.
Using random colors on low cost standard doors is an inexpensive and easy way to avoid labels and promote inclusiveness and fun of choice while creating a beautiful space.
It is essential that architecture and education walk together to improve learning spaces, through beauty and fun, beyond functionality.

Key objectives for inclusion

There is a gender equality law that recommends the adequacy of toilets in mixed toilets.
In the center there are several cases in which the lack of these spaces caused problems for students who feel discriminated against because of their sexuality.
This type of space can help to understand diversity from the respect of freedom of choice
We understand the need to support tolerance, understanding diversity and improving coexistence. It’s all about inclusion, another of our main values.
In order to achieve that, confidence and cooperation with all the educational community is necessary, especially with families.

Results in relation to category

The project has substantially improved the day-to-day life of the students and teachers at the center. Deteriorated and obsolete spaces have been renovated with a fun performance that educates in values.

How Citizens benefit

The reception of the students has been wonderful, they have understood the spaces that are being used from the game.
There has been some debate about the fact that they are mixed, but in the end they have accepted the initiative, understanding its positive role.
In order to achieve that, confidence and cooperation with all the educational community is necessary, especially with families.

Physical or other transformations

It refers to other types of transformations (soft investment)

Innovative character

Understanding the potential of small spaces

Disciplines/knowledge reflected

A dialogue has been established between teachers, students, parents of students and psychologists who have helped to establish and reflect in the project all the educational values of the school. But the main reception and contribution has been that of the students themselves.

Methodology used

Methodology based on the educational system, understanding that is essential that architecture and education walk together to improve learning spaces, through beauty and fun, beyond functionality.

How stakeholders are engaged

The school is a small concerted center in which the teachers themselves were the promoters of the project, paying for it. The educational community believed in the project from the beginning
Therefore the budget has been very tight.
All the employees who have made the work possible are parents of students from the center or from the town.

Global challenges

The great challenge is to change, thanks to this type of space, the way of understanding the world and the people around us.

Learning transferred to other parties

These ideas can be generalized in the adaptation or construction of new mixed restrooms in other centers.
Incorporating colored doors, reflecting reflections thanks to mirrors that create infinite spaces and elements in the sinks that allow direct face-to-face interaction.
