The project is mainly based on the regeneration and redevelopment of rural spaces. The project idea that the Municipality of Longobardi intends to implement aims to stimulate the development of the municipal territory by increasing the cultural and tourist attractiveness of the village.
The project first of all involves the supply and installation of a light path that will connect the Birthplace of San Nicola (Patron Saint of Longobardi) and Piazza Luigi Miceli via outdoor path lights incorporated into the stone paving. This illuminated path has a double function; The main purpose of the light path is to illuminate and "accompany" visitors to the historic center of Longobardi, but also to make the view of the historic center at night even more evocative and enhance it, so that tourists are attracted even more to visit the glimpses of the village. All amplified by the presence of the illuminated staircase which will make everything very beautiful to look at. The typological and morphological choices of the project take into account both local construction traditions but also the most modern techniques for performance purposes. The intervention is as respectful as possible of the original construction methods and materials, so that users can perceive the intervention as an integral part. The historic center today appears depopulated, but, through this regeneration and redevelopment project, it will be possible to include the greatest number of inhabitants and provide them with greater services. A first service is the provision of the municipal library, with the supply of digital totems with QR codes and. Using the QR code it will be possible to access the dedicated web page which will provide all the useful information and the complete history of the individual literary work present in the library. Tourist signs will be positioned along the historic center, bearing short captions and equipped with QRcode, a guide itinerary will then be created.

The main objective of our initiative is the redevelopment of the historic center which represents the origins of the town, however inserting a note of innovation through the arrangement of outdoor steplights incorporated into the stone paving. The spotlights will be equipped with a solar panel and will light up only when the sun goes down using the energy stored during the hours of sunshine.
The main purpose of the light path is to illuminate and "accompany" visitors to the historic center of Longobardi, but also to make the view of the historic center at night even more evocative and enhance it, so that tourists are attracted even more to visit the glimpses of the village. Tourist signs will be positioned along the historic center, bearing short captions and equipped with QRcode, a guide itinerary will then be created.
By scanning the QRcode, the App will allow you to obtain insights into the places and assets, the history and traditions, the princes and illustrious figures who have walked the streets of the municipality of Longobardi.
The main purpose of this idea is to lead the visitor by the hand on a historical-cultural walk through the ancient village of Longobardi.

The main purpose of this idea is to lead the visitor by the hand on a historical-cultural walk through the ancient village of Longobardi.
In terms of inclusion, the historic center, at the end of the project, will be accessible to everyone, even to people with limited motor and visual capacity. The stairways will be illuminated and will allow everyone to arrive in the square without problems and admire the suggestive view of the sea from the heights of the historic centre. Children and young people will return to frequent the historic center, attracted by the totems and the QR code signs and will also return to frequent the library and make the square a hub for recreational activities and meetings for the new generations. The library will host various initiatives such as, for example, culinary workshops and/or days dedicated to various topics relating to innovations, technology and sustainability.
Citizens will be involved in this initiative as the project focuses on the inclusion of citizens of all ages. The little ones will participate in the various initiatives that will take place in the library such as, for example, culinary workshops and/or days dedicated to various topics relating to innovations, technology and sustainability for the elderly who want to relax in a welcoming and literary environment. The historic centre, through the planned lighting, will be connected to the birthplace of the patron saint of the Lombards and to the nearby church dedicated to Saint Nicola Saggio himself and will therefore allow Lombards and tourists to visit these areas in the evening without the fear of the dark.
The subjects who were personally interested in the planning were the administrators of the Municipality of Longobardi as they have always been attentive to the redevelopment of the Lombard village.
In the design object of this competition, various sectors of knowledge are mixed such as the technology personified by the QR Codes that appear on the totem and on the signs, the sustainability of the solar panels that will allow the stairways to be illuminated and the tradition that will however remain as the typological and morphological choices of the project take into account both the local construction traditions but also the most modern techniques for performance purposes. The intervention is as respectful as possible of the original construction methods and materials, so that users can perceive the intervention as an integral part.
The project is innovative in nature as it is based on cutting-edge technologies from the point of view of technology and sustainability but still maintaining a traditionalist character as the historic center must remain as such and be the testimony of the various historical passages from its foundation until today. The innovation will be seen in the lighting methodology of the staircase, i.e. using solar panels and they will have different colors based on the hours of the day. The innovation will also be seen in the signage equipped with QR codes and in the totems positioned near the library. The project, as already mentioned, will be innovative, but the history and sense of belonging to the place will remain.
The methodology used in the initiative "The rebirth of the historic center of Longobardi", at the basis of the entire project, is the redevelopment of the historic center and the involvement of the population who now lives far from the town. The basis of the project is the lighting methodology of the staircase, i.e. using solar panels and they will have different colors based on the hours of the day. Signage with QR codes and totems positioned near the library will then be installed.
The elements of the initiative that can be replicated in other areas are the information totems, which can also be arranged and positioned in front of the monumental palaces of the Lombards and, above all, the signage equipped with a QR code, which could be provided in all the Lombard hamlets and, by framing the code itself, trace the origins of the name of the hamlet and the origins of the hamlet itself.
The municipality of Longobardi is a small municipality with 2326 inhabitants. The initiative aims to increase visitors and perhaps even inhabitants. On a global level, the initiative would give an identity to the historic center and the entire municipality of Longobardi and would also publicize it so that the neighboring population would feel encouraged to come and see this small village located between the sea and the mountains. The initiative would improve the appearance of the historic center which is already very fascinating and evocative, with a note of innovation which is a must in our times. However, everything is immersed in a framework of tradition and historicism because technology and innovation are important but above all our origins are important and the new generations must know this.
The activities planned for the intervention entitled "The Rebirth of the historic center of Longobardi" are the following:
•The project will initially proceed first of all with the supply and installation of a light path that will connect the Birthplace of San Nicola (Patron Saint of the Lombards) and Piazza Luigi Miceli via outdoor path lights incorporated into the stone paving. The main purpose of the luminous path is to illuminate and "accompany" visitors to the historic center of Longobardi, but also to make the view of the historic center at night even more evocative and enhance it, so that tourists are attracted even more to visit the glimpses of the village. All amplified by the presence of the illuminated staircase which will make everything very beautiful to look at.
•Subsequently we will proceed with the provision of the municipal library and with the supply of digital totems equipped with QR codes. Through this QR code it will be possible to access the dedicated web page which will provide all the useful information and the complete history of the individual literary work present in the library.
•Furthermore, tourist signs will be positioned along the historic center, bearing short captions and equipped with QRcodes, through which a guide itinerary will then be created, since, by framing the QRcode, the App will allow you to obtain insights into the places and assets, the history and traditions, the princes and illustrious people who have walked the streets of the municipality of Longobardi. The main purpose of this idea is to lead the visitor by the hand on a historical-cultural walk through the ancient village of Longobardi. As regards the operating principles of the NEB, first of all we will talk about SUSTAINABILITY, as the project is of a sustainable nature and the same will be seen in the lighting methodology of the staircase, i.e. using solar panels and the same will have different colors based on the hours of the day, so there will be less use
