soil microbiology through permaculture
EXPERIMENTAL LABORATORY PLANT-MICROBE SYMBIOSIS, REGENERATIVE SOIL MICROBIOTA, ECOSYSTEMS
through AQUAPONICS and since 2016 with the principles of PERMACULTURE, the FOOD FOREST OF FERMO is an open-air experimental center, MICROBIOLOGICAL SOIL enrichment with PRODUCTION, INOCULATION OF BACTERIA AND NATURAL WELL-BORN MICRORGANISMS in the soil. Respecting the natural regeneration of the EARTH, we make MICROBI AND LOMBRICS work , improving the FERTILITY of the SOIL without ANY PROCESSING, giving LIFE TO HIGH QUALITY PLANTS and FOOD that WE PLEASE PRESENT TO YOU !

As an individual
The food forest project aims to create a productive and resilient ecosystem inspired by permaculture principles. The focus is on soil regeneration, biodiversity, and the production of nutrient-dense foods with minimal human intervention.
The main target groups include researchers, farmers, conscious consumers, and educational institutions interested in agroforestry systems. The project's specific objectives include improving soil fertility through advanced microbiology, diversifying crops to ensure ecological balance, and optimizing water management with sustainable techniques. Another key goal is the production of highly nutritious foods, such as goji berries and sea buckthorn, with a scientific analysis of their health benefits.
After ten years, the project has achieved significant results, including the establishment of a fully functional agroforestry ecosystem, the integration of plant species with specific ecological roles, and the production of nutrient-rich fruits. Additionally, the project has launched a scientific outreach initiative through a blog to share knowledge with an academic and professional audience. Finally, a research center is being developed to study and promote the food forest and its eco-sustainable products.

Food Forest and Soil Microbiology: Goals and Sustainability
The food forest project leverages soil microbiology to regenerate fertility, reduce external inputs, and create a resilient ecosystem. The main goals include increasing cation exchange capacity (CEC) to improve water retention and nutrient availability, stimulating microbial biodiversity with mycorrhizal fungi and beneficial bacteria, and integrating nitrogen-fixing and dynamic accumulator plants to support productivity.
Water efficiency is optimized through mulching techniques and increased organic matter, while the production of nutrient-rich foods focuses on plants high in antioxidants and phytonutrients, such as goji berries and sea buckthorn.
The implemented strategies include the application of beneficial microorganisms, targeted planting to enhance biodiversity, soil monitoring, and the development of a self-sustaining ecosystem. The result is a sustainable productive system with healthier soils and plants, demonstrating the effectiveness of applied microbiology in food forests.
