CLIC RECYCLE transforms human hair waste into circular, nature-based solutions that regenerate ecosystems and reduce pollution across a spectrum of circular design applications for marine environments and water preservation. Through a circular business model, cutting-edge technology and smart monitoring systems, we aim to reduce plastic pollution, enhance water quality, and promote regenerative practices for healthier ecosystems and reducing the environmental footprint.
A Biodegradable Mulch improves soil health, conserves water, and replaces plastic-based alternatives in agriculture, vineyards and urban greenery. The Sea Decontamination Barriers naturally adsorb hydrocarbons and heavy metals to protect marine ecosystems. Smart Barriers and Smart Mulch with embedded sensors, a mobile application and IoT platform providing real-time monitoring of soil moisture, plant growth, water use and water quality and other impact data such as waste reduction, water savings and carbon footprint mitigation enables data-driven decision-making for greater environmental efficiency. Designed with life-cycle thinking, both products promote a circular industrial ecosystem by repurposing waste into high-impact environmental solutions.
Both products have a patent and PCT and are validated through an LCA (ISO 14040) proving their superior environmental performance over conventional products in agriculture and marine preservation.
Targeting municipalities, environmental agencies, farmers, urban planners, port authorities, and sustainability-focused businesses, we aim to reduce plastic use, decontaminate and preserve water resources, enhance soil health and improve biodiversity and ecosystem health.
By fostering circular economy practices, reducing waste, and integrating smart environmental solutions, CLIC RECYCLE is reshaping industrial ecosystems for a more sustainable and inclusive future.

Working with design, beauty and aesthetics is essential when transforming waste materials, particularly human hair waste, as it addresses cultural taboos, reshapes perceptions, and fosters acceptance. Hair carries deep social and historical associations that can evoke discomfort or stigma, making thoughtful design crucial in overcoming these barriers. Products are thoughtfully designed to integrate seamlessly into their environments, adding aesthetic and functional value for users and the space they inhabit showcasing hair waste as a valuable and sustainable resource.
Aesthetically pleasing designs help people connect emotionally and intellectually with the material and product, fostering acceptance and pride in using products made from recycled hair. This is especially important in industries like agriculture, urban greenery, or marine conservation, where stakeholders may initially hesitate to adopt unconventional materials. This approach also enhances market appeal, driving broader adoption across industries like urban greenery, marine conservation, and agriculture, where public visibility and acceptance are vital. By combining functionality with beauty, we not only transform waste into desirable products but also promote sustainable practices that align with societal values and ecological goals.
CLIC RECYCLE integrates aesthetics into core values by emphasising eco-design that is functional, sustainable, and visually harmonious with natural and urban environments to enhance quality of experience, well-being and harmony with nature. This promotes a broader acceptance of sustainable practices, aligning with both ecological goals and societal values.

The innovative character of CLIC RECYCLE lies in its unique use of human hair waste to create sustainable, biodegradable products that replace plastic-based alternatives in agriculture, urban greenery, and marine conservation. Unlike mainstream solutions, which often rely on synthetic or non-biodegradable materials, our products—biodegradable mulch and sea decontamination barriers—are entirely natural, circular, and designed to regenerate ecosystems.
Our integration of IoT technology with the products adds an innovative layer, providing real-time data on water quality, soil moisture, and plant health. This allows users—from farmers to municipalities—to optimize water usage, improve air quality, and enhance environmental impact, which is rarely seen in traditional, non-digital solutions in these sectors.
Additionally, our Hair Recycling Subscription Service is a novel approach to reducing waste in the beauty industry, turning salon hair waste into a valuable resource for eco-friendly innovations, promoting a circular economy and engaging a sector that is typically not involved in large-scale sustainability efforts.
In comparison to mainstream actions, our project offers a holistic, tech-driven solution that addresses multiple environmental challenges while ensuring inclusivity, affordability, and scalability.

We are borrowing one of the most valuable resources from future generations. Without water, our planet cannot sustain life.
Yet 86% of water is contaminated by man-made activity with large amounts of pollutants, solid waste, micro plastics and large carbon emissions. In agriculture 45% of land is altered by man causing soil erosion, using large amounts of water for irrigation, large use of fertilizers and large amounts of plastic to compensate. The buildings and construction sector accounts for 37% of global emissions.
Our planet is home to an exponential resource of 8,1 billion people. Every year 2.2 billion kg of hair waste is generated globally from hair salons and ends up in landfills causing significant harm upon our environment.
Climate change, pollution and a growing global population has extreme impact on the future availability of raw materials and resources and extreme weather conditions jeopardizing food security and access to clean water for all.
We create naturebased solutions that clean and save water resources, reduce waste and care for our planet with an abundant regenerative material that can remove a waste stream and convert it into a local resource. This resource is transformed into different services and products that have a positive impact on both nature and people by conserving water, decontaminating water and restoring land for futures of water and food security. These solutions are a sustainable scalable alternative to plastic, they have a societal and environmental impact that can scale and be used in rural and urban environments, create job opportunities and a community of sustainable practices.

A Life cycle assessment study has been conducted according to ISO 14040 for both products, showing both of them superior to conventional plastic products used in agriculture and marine preservation.
Both products use hair natural abilities to preserve and decontaminate water, minimising waste and emissions. As an example: In one year, the environmental impact of the deployment of 36 Sea Decontamination Barriers in the Port of Barcelona have removed more than half a tonne of polypropylene products from the port, diverted more than a tonne of hair waste from landfills or incineration, and converted it into valuable resources. The barriers have also extracted more than four tonnes of hydrocarbons and more than 50 g of heavy metals from the port’s waters. This effort has restored slightly over 1.1 billion liters of water, preventing contamination and preserving marine ecosystems. If scaled to a port requiring 500 barriers, the annual impact would include the removal of huge amounts of hair waste, hydrocarbons, heavy metals and polypropylene products. With 3,024 ports in Europe and over 20 million vessels passing through Spanish ports annually, CLIC RECYCLE's solutions are highly scalable and replicable. Fully implemented, this initiative could divert millions of tons of hair waste from landfills, remove substantial amounts of hydrocarbons and heavy metals from oceans, reduce plastic waste, and enhance soil health and water conservation through its biodegradable products.
