Fair Ground Brussels is a real estate cooperative with a social purpose. Its mission is to create affordable and sustainable spaces for housing and activities of collective interest. The ambition is to develop real estate projects in a non-speculative way and to transform land into a common good, forever.
In 3 years Elisa and Veronica involved up to 720 persons, and collected approximately 1 ton of plastic and 6 kg of cigarettes! It all started with installing ashtrays around the most crowded areas of Latina (Italy) and it continues with clean-up events on the beach and public areas, too. With their project PQP, Elisa and Veronica are making their city greener and are raising awareness in their local community. Now is the time to "grow"!
De Serre is a neighbourhood workshop where local residents can meet, set up initiatives, develop their talents, dedicate themselves to the neighbourhood and take steps towards work or training. It is a partnership between numerous local partners, social workers, outreaching workers from mental healthcare, volunteers, local residents and the City of Ghent.
One visitor said this about De Serre and that maybe says it all. ‘You get space and opportunities, even if you are not a perfect visitor’.
In recent decades we have witnessed the estrangement of human beings from Nature. Aware of the importance of Water in the balance of Life, the Rehabilitate Section by Section (RTT) Project was designed to bring people closer to water resources by applying Nature-based solutions that encourage a sense of belonging to the territory and the prioritisation of public policies for the conservation of riparian ecosystems at local level, increasing Biodiversity and mitigating Climate Change.
Meerstad is an urban extension location on the eastern flank of Groningen. Over a period of several decades, approximately 5,000 homes will be gradually built around the newly constructed Woldmeer lake. The development of Meerstad is taking place in small steps, with the result that a social and programmatic heart is lacking. The ‘SuperHub’ is designed to fix this.
The redefinition of the role of trafic at this former crossroad in Brussels enabled to transform a residual road space into a fully- fledged pedestrian urban square: the Guy Cudell square.

Many houses and flats have been completely destroyed in Ukraine and are cut out. However, there are definitely more partially damaged houses that are fit for living after minor repairs. We have prepared in Poland kits for the installation of temporary windows with a double transparent membrane. It is really enough that mothers with children have to run away to shelters or basements every day. We want to give them some light and warmth for those short moments when they can enjoy the sun.
Edouard Manet's painting "Le déjeuner sur l'herbe" served as inspiration for the new Dorothea Buck Park on the A7 tunnel in Hamburg-Schnelsen. Where once avalanches of cars pushed along in the open air, today - above the traffic noise and a four-lane road - a vegetative biodiversity thrives, residents meet for picnics, neighbourhood children play football in safety, allotment gardeners grow fruit and vegetables on a 3.0 ha green roof.
KOMM’ RUM invites everybody to come together, share stories and memories, and imagine possible new futures for the neighbourhood of the city district Johannstadt (Dresden, DE). During various building workshops residents of the quarter came together and co-created three mobile storytelling stations: a wheel of fortune turntable, airy inflatable cushions and a postcard stand. These stations are regularly in use and therefore facilitate new forms of temporary as well as long-term encounters.
Trudo Vertical Forest applies the Vertical Forest model to social housing for the first time. Designed to accommodate mainly low-income users, the tower in Eindhoven houses flats with low rents but high living quality. The complex vision of “living” coexistence between man and other species is thus amplified in the project into a dual challenge: the possibility of combining the great challenge of the environmental crisis with the urgent need for affordable housing in contemporary cities.
