Project Description
insight addresses the negative effects of the increasing consumption of social media. Description of the project
Summary
Excessive use of smart phones and increased consumption of social media can have negative consequences. Increased use of social networks does not only mean an increased risk of revealing personal data on the internet. In addition to critical issues such as cyberbullying, health problems such as depression can also occur with an over-consumption of social media.
awareness
At first we have to make our target group aware of the problem. A lot of young people are not yet aware that intensive consumption also has negative effects on their health. Therefore, we reach out to our target group through public campaigns.
self reflection
After our target group has raised awareness about the consumption of social media, we can provide support for self-reflection in the next step. Through small exercises from our main product, the insightBox, users are asked to reflect on their behaviour on social media.
behaviour change
Once self-reflection on the user's own behaviour has been triggered, the challenge cards contained in the insightBox can be used. These challenge cards are intended to playfully motivate users to change their behaviour by offering them small tasks to complete.

Key objectives for sustainability
As we ourselves deal with the consequences and dangers of excessive consumption on social networks, we also questioned our own social media consumption as a result of the elaboration process and adapted our habits. We were finally able to summarise these experiences in our insight project and see the chance to be able to share this a little.
We as a team have consciously chosen this topic because it is of great importance in today's world and the relevance of becoming active is constantly increasing. Currently, young people and young adults are not supported enough in finding the right way to deal with social media. At the same time, the pressure on social media is growing and the Covid-19 pandemic is also contributing to a worsening of the situation. Moreover, mental health problems are not yet sufficiently accepted as serious illnesses in society. With this project, we not only want to draw attention to this everyday act, but also encourage people to initiate a balanced approach to social media in a self-reflective and self-aware way.
Key objectives for aesthetics and quality
The key element of the concept
Through our website, visitors can not only find out more about our concept and order a free insightBox to take home. The platform also contains many interesting blog posts and videos about social media.
insightBox
The insightBox is the centerpiece of our concept. One of our goals is to get our target group to purchase the box and to reflect on themselves with the content. In addition to the insightBook and the challenge cards, it also contains other small gadgets that promote fun and motivation during individual reflection.
insightBook
The insightBook presents impressive statistics and information about social media in an easy-to-understand way. It also contains exercises that encourage self-reflection. Small tasks such as tracking - "the old school way", which allows users to document their screen time, encourage them to become aware of their own user behaviour. Additional QR codes are placed in the various chapters that lead to small educational videos on specific topics.
Challenge cards
Our challenge cards can be easily integrated into everyday life. Users can set themselves various challenges, such as "Eat at the table without a mobile phone" or "No push notifications after 4 pm." The challenges can be tried out alone or shared with friends. Gamification aspects make it possible to master small and larger challenges with fun and ease.
Key objectives for inclusion
Appearance
To reach our target group, we attract attention where we also want to fight the problem - specifically in social media. Through a provocative appearance of our posters, we want to raise interest for the issue. Using a mix of German and English language, we pick up our target group on the same level. The design of our product should appear light and personal. To achieve this, we use geometric figures and scribble elements. Our colour scheme is neutral so that all genders feel equally addressed. In addition to the shapes, we also use many images that are kept in greyscale. In this way, we want to draw the focus of the target group to the essentials and deliberately counteract the flashy, screaming images on social media. Another concern was that we pay attention to a healthy balance between analogue and digital media in the use of our product. Among other things, we also deal with Digital Detox. Nevertheless, we don't want to give users the feeling that they have to do without the smartphone completely.

Innovative character
Process
Through public campaigns, society's attention is raised to the topic of social media and the associated dangers. AR and QR posters create an attraction for the target group. By scanning the posters, the hidden message is revealed. In addition, the QR code leads them to our website or Instagram account. On the website, you can find exciting articles on various topics and order the insightBox for free. Afterwards, it is delivered to the user's home and the user can deal with the insightBox in the familiar environment. The insightBox contains the insightBook, in which the user is informed about the dangers and additionally small exercises stimulate self-reflection. It also contains QR codes that enable you to access exciting explanatory videos. The challenge cards help to encourage a change in behaviour through small exercises in everyday life.
