Description of the project

Summary

The objectif of A New Hope is to provide one solution for two of the mains problems at the European Union: refugees crisis and depopulation.

On one side there are PEOPLE who have lost their home, friends and family members because of war. On the other side there are TERRITORIES with almost empty villages and only a few elderly inhabitants. Both have one thing in common: NO FUTURE.

So why not give refugees the OPPORTUNITY of integrate into these villages?, this would means a new hope for both!

Key objectives for sustainability

The objective in terms of environmental sustainability is to REDUCE the use of resources for building temporary refugees camps and RECYCLE instead empty houses which are already built and would be upgrades by these families whose decendents could REUSE in the future.

Key objectives for aesthetics and quality

The objective in terms of aesthtics an quality of experience beyond functionality is to SHOW the beauty of living in a natural environment: contemplating manificent landscapes, waking up with the song of birds, take care of animals, having close contact with your neighbors, learning traditional occupations and cultures, bringing to life ancien buildings, etc.

This project can be exemplary in this context because it shows peple in cities that another style of life is not only possible but also better and happier, so this could bring national citizens back to depopulated regions.

Key objectives for inclusion

The main objective of the project is the INCLUSION of refugees into the regions that need them the most. A strong CITIZEN ENGAGEMENT is needed by the inhabitants (for helping refugees start a new life in a foreign country and give them EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES) and by the refugees (for helping develop the village in an exercise of CO-DESIGN with the traditional inhabitants). As you can see, the PUBLIC PARTICIPATION is the base to achieve these objectives and make the concept AFFORDABLE.

Physical or other transformations

It refers to other types of transformations (soft investment)

Innovative character

Inclusion, quality of experience and environmental sustainability are perfectly combined in the project because the idea is to INTEGRATE people who has lost almost everything in small societies improving enormously the QUALITY of their lifes by exchanging the camp for a village already working with empty houses that they can reuse, helping that way to the ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY.
