Or do you perhaps happen to be reading for hours, taking photos or trekking? Lack of comfy sitting space is a drag. But we have a solution. Treeseat is your ultraportable chair, everywhere where there´s a tree or similar vertical structure. It´s easy to carry around. Attach it with a single click and relax in the shade.

Description of the project
Summary
Treeseat is the answer to lack of available sitting space for individuals, particularly in densely
populated urban areas in the period from spring to autumn. Most of the trees in our cities offer support
and shade for free and Treeseat is taking this great opportunity to a practical point.
Made partially from wood and inspired by trees it offers an opportunity to spend more time out in the
open, comfortably. It enables you to slow down and take your time, relax, catch your breath, collect
your thoughts and recharge.
Treeseat also means new experience of sitting, bringing natural shade, the sound of the tree and
contact with its bark into the equasion. You can put it on any grown tree, put up multiple units on the
same tree, sit on it in cross-legged position or even use it as a portable small table.
Further educational or commercial applications are interesting as well, as it can be engraved with
infographics or maps, logos or any plain text.
Aimed at digital nomads, seniors, parents with kids, outdoor enthusiasts, photographers or fishermen it
can be used in parks or gardens, childrens playgrounds or hotels, at festivals etc.
Key objectives for sustainability
Treeseat is made partially from a renewable material – wood, with the rest of the materials easily
recyclable. If a part of it gets used up or breaks, it is easy to change it, without the need to swap the
whole unit. Treeseat does not damage any vegetation nor change the landscape – you will leave your
favourite spot intact. As it can be engraved with pictures or text, it can be a great tool to introduce
environmentally related information, such as some details about particular trees in the park, or animals
living on that tree, guidelines or rules etc.
Key objectives for aesthetics and quality
Treeseats design is inspired by nature – the main material is wood, with engraved
annual rings to invoke a cut treetrunk. The finish is smooth and soft, which makes
contact pleasant and desirable and leads to a more relaxed and pleasant experience.
We believe that through it´s use, by bringing people closer to trees and their plant or
animal inhabitants, the connection to the natural world can be repaired, too, meaning
more understanding of the diversity and complexity of our living, growing
environment.
Key objectives for inclusion
Treeseat offers inclusion of it´s users, be it seniors, people with physical handicap or
post-op trauma into public spaces without the need for heavy and expensive
infrastructure. It expands the variety of spaces and time spent outside and introduces
a unique perspective on public spaces. Treeseat also enables organisation of certain
events in spaces without supporting infrastructure.
Results in relation to category
Our product is currently in pre-production phase, with several units manufactured and used in
a variety of settings. All possible results or impacts are therefore mere ideas, though
based on years of study and development. However, we have already registered the
design at EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) under DESIGN NUMBER
008534887-0001.
How Citizens benefit
Our product has not been mass tested yet (see above), but we received great feedback
deploying it on a childrens playground and from individual users.
Innovative character
Treeseat is positioned in a market segment that is underdeveloped, making the other
products look heavy, impractical and unfashionable. The way it attaches to the
treetrunk is original, as is the material choice. We believe there is also a lot of
innovation potential in it´s variability – offereing different color finish, custom –made
engraving etc. From a purely design point of view, the concept evoking a natural
element – wooden surface with annual rings is also new.
