Description of the project

Summary

In 2022, a full-scale war between Russia and Ukraine began. As a result of active hostilities, there were many people who suffered from the war.
Our organization works in the Chernihiv region in the Snovska hromada.
Our goal is to reduce the negative effects of war on the population.
Target groups we work with: internally displaced persons, veterans, persons affected by war in the Snovsk hromada.
Goals: improve the quality of life, provide psychological and other support, teach new knowledge.
Results: up to 275 IDP, 140 injured persons, 5 veterans are receiving support at our center.
In 2022, we provided 3 tons of humanitarian aid and conducted 120 hours of consultations.
After the victory, the process of rebuilding the country will begin. We have developed methods of training and retraining of individuals taking with the values and approaches of the NEB. Also, we established connection with the hromadas authority to implement the approaches of the Green Course in the community reconstruction plans.

Key objectives for sustainability

Our organization started working with the country's new challenges in 2022. When we defined the target groups, we understood the direction of our movement. In 2022, the main problems concerned more provision of primary needs - such as food, clothing, medicine. In 2023, the main needs are more related to the search for new knowledge (search for a new job) and overcoming mental disorders.
After the victory, we expect that a complete reconstruction of the country should take place. Therefore, we are trying to implement NEB approaches in this process.
We already have a certain number of people we support, so we expect that with additional support from the community, we will be able to increase the number of people.

Key objectives for aesthetics and quality

At this stage, our project is focused on obtaining new knowledge. Ukraine's accession to the EU has the full support of the citizens, and therefore the citizens have a need for knowledge and methods that are currently relevant in the EU.
However, the Snovsk hromada has very old architecture (1950 - 1970) and reconstruction or new construction will have significant community support.

Key objectives for inclusion

We have three main groups that have different needs: A) IDPs, today this group has approximately reached its size and is defined in the community. In addition to the prevention of psychological health, this group often needs new knowledge to find a new job B) War-affected persons, this group is still constantly increasing. These people usually lost property or suffered physical injuries, so they need much more rehabilitation B) Veterans, a small group, but there will be more than 1000 of them in the hromada. There are already people without limbs among the veterans.
Working with these groups requires maximum access in various variants of needs. We work with all groups.
Unfortunately, our country did not have a lot of experience working with these groups during the war, so best practices are being developed now.

Results in relation to category

The results
quality. In 2022, we took part in the stabilization of the humanitarian situation in the Snovsk hromada. In 2023, we are working to reduce the negative consequences of war.
Quantitative. Up to 275 IDPs, 140 war-affected persons, 5 veterans are receiving support at our center. The local hospital and school received aid.
The authorities of the local community, thanks to the support of our project, are overcoming the consequences of the war

How Citizens benefit

The war rallied the country's population. Our organization has been created in 2015. In 2022, we started to engage in new activities. We chose a community that was under occupation and to which a large number of IDPs moved. Therefore, there were great humanitarian needs in the community.
Together with local activists, we began to act to reduce the consequences of the war. During our work, cooperation with local authorities began.
Today, we have a team, some of the people deal with organizational issues and some deal with local activities. Our work involves constant cooperation with local authorities.

Physical or other transformations

It refers to a physical transformation of the built environment (hard investment)

Innovative character

The innovativeness of the project has three components:
A) the country has no experience of complex aid during the war
B) the country has no post-war reconstruction experience
C) the country lacks the experience of integrating the country into the EU
We combine all these three directions to achieve a better future

Disciplines/knowledge reflected

During the implementation of the project, the following were involved:
- psychologists
- lawyers
- economists
- organizational development specialists

In the future, we plan to involve partners from the community for the development of the project.
