Description of the project

Summary

KINO Athens is proposing an mini film festival of four (4) day duration with out-door screenings accompanied by side events accecible and affordable to all. Presented in Athens city, downtown.

Key objectives for sustainability

The programme of films will be a proposition towards humility and humanity. It will raise questions about priorities, values and dreams. It will be an invitation to experiment, in different ways of sharing films, art, ideas and conversations. It will focus on creating stronger bonds among people. The programme of films will be composed by 6 features length films presented in conversation with each other. The name of the programme will be “Reimagining the Land of Humans” An hommage to the land: the administration and possession of the land, the labor of the land, the practices related to it and the ways of life attached. We will reassert the primacy of the land as a critical way of thinking about the world and its various crises. The rise of the climate movement reflects a growing anxiety about ecological catastrophe, a global disaster that promises to render vast swathes of the world’s land uninhabitable and millions of its population landless. As is often the case in these films’ depictions of similar struggles fictional and documentary alike this catastrophe was precipitated by powerful corporate and governmental landowners controlling, manipulating, and abusing law and land. Before the current health crisis, young people took to the streets to strike; in the most effective form of urban protest against an all-connected metropolitan world, they blocked passage through city streets.
This retrospective of films about the land is also, perhaps inevitably, a retrospective of the struggles of the 20th century. Through these films, we can begin to understand the magnitude of the shifts in land and power that this century brought with it, as well as the political transformations that its excesses have precipitated for our already chaotic new century.

Key objectives for aesthetics and quality

1. Reconnecting with nature
One strand of “Reimagining the Land for Humans“ will be presenting depictions of alternative: utopian communities and the enduring struggle to sustain them. In these movies, land plays a defining role in a revolutionary conception of community.
2. Regaining a sense of belonging
Though the activity we will try to create a spiritual and collective quest involving the search of land
that’s out of sight reconnecting with the mysteries of transcendence and psychedelic pleasures, gaining a sense of belonging and connecting via music as well.
3. Prioritizing the places and people that need it most
We believe that the people of the city, or urban cities need it the most such a tribute.
Also we plan to have free entrance.
4. Fostering long term, lifecycle and integrated thinking in the industrial ecosystem
We realised early on that Athens would be the perfect place to present this particular retrospective, given that it is a city needs immediate social awareness or the need of ordinary people must protect the environments.

Key objectives for inclusion

it will be an open event with free entrance and all included right in the middle of the city of Athens
